People & Organization (P&O) - Advisor - Smart Infrastructure

We’re scouting for a P&O Generalist who will support the Sr P&O BP for one of the largest, complex, and growing businesses of the Smart Infrastructure (SI) Operating Company for SIEMENS in India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. The newly formed business unit has the entire value chain of the Siemens such as Sales, global R&D centers, Manufacturing, Projects, Service and Strategy. The key responsibility for this position would be to support and actively participate with the P&O BP to engage with the BU Leadership teams to define the P&O strategy and drive interventions based on the same, to look after the growing and profitable businesses.

  • You will learn and display the understanding of business and its strategy, will actively support the P&O BP in the decision-making process across all facets of the organizational unit (Sales, Service, Operations, Projects, R&D, Procurement, etc.).
  • You will be supporting the P&O BP to ensure implementation of Global P&O Strategy in alignment with local needs (wherever applicable) e.g. Hiring and retention of key resources from the global R&D group as well as driving employee engagement activities together with the R&D Head.
  • You will support and effectively engage with P&O BP to develop and communicate the local People Strategy and translate it into P&O goals & actions each year with the BU leadership team.
  • You will support P&O BP in his/her effort to drive discussions related to workforce & organization design changes and provide recommendations e.g. use of the Strategic workforce planning tool to forecast the hiring needs especially for Operations. Here, you’ll partner with business leaders to actively analyze and drive cultural change in line with business strategy.
  • Participate & support P&O BP to enable local business to develop a diverse, robust talent pipeline. Also, you will inform the business on the appropriate P&O programs, processes, and policies based on the business environment / strategy.
  • You’re responsible contributing to P&O activities in the country. You’ll educate managers and employees on best use of on-demand solutions for relevant P&O related topics.
  • You will support & facilitate engagement workshops and action planning with BU leadership teams and the individual department managers, thereby supporting talent identification and development within both the BUs in India.
  • Another important part of your role is regularly speaking with the managers/employees on a monthly basis to settle their P&O related issues and proactively resolving them. Setting up regular meetings with all the people managers/department heads/employees to spend time with them to understand the business imperatives.
  • You will actively involve in maintaining employee database, ensuring the highest standards of data quality eg, CHCM, e-list etc in coordination with the FSS colleagues.
  • You will maintain various reports as needed related to P&O role to support the decision making process, participate and actively engage in all P&O initiatives being driven for the BUs.
  • Participate in BU/Country specific projects as & when required for self-learning and also adding value to the P&O as a function.
  • Talent Management- Actively participate in ensuring the action planning & implementation of all initiatives around Talent Management.
  • Talent Acquisition- Actively collaborate with the TA team to ensure the right talent at the right time for business.
  • Operations4Future- Participation in the global O AIS project to ensure all the action points are achieved as per the timelines.

  • Business partners: All Employees in the businesses mentioned above (BU CEO, BU CFO, N-1, Indirect Stakeholders - Union Representatives for Town halls, transformation exercise etc.)
  • Others partners - Universities, Engineering Colleges, Skill Development Centres, for internships/ hiring to the scholarship program, Siemens Technical Academy for in plant training in the factories and Technician hiring

  • You bring in 5+ years of post qualification experience of P&O
  • You are a management graduate from reputed management institutes, an excellent standout colleague
  • You’ve a digital attitude, have great communication skills, love to work in teams, are grounded, honest and hard working.
  • You also possess excellent computer skills (Excel, Power-point etc) including latest digitalization tools which can be utilized for adding value to P&O function.
