We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Materials Planner to join our Customer Services Rail Infrastructure business within our Materials Team, located in Chippenham. Reporting directly to the Materials Manager, you will liaise with all sectors within the Customer Services Business Unit and the broader company to guarantee the timely completion of all material management and administrative tasks. You will oversee all correspondence related to the customer services inbox, quotation, order processing, and logistics management. This position is ideal if you thrive in an organised team environment and are excited to contribute to a new service from the ground up. You must be driven, forward-thinking, proficient in using a computer, exhibit excellent telephone etiquette, and open to working in a team setting. A high level of customer service must be consistently provided to both internal and external stakeholders of the company
You’ll make a difference by…
- Proactively handle customers' requests for quotations and purchase orders.
- Input sales orders into the SAP system and generate POs for external and internal supply chains, overseeing the entire process from receipt to customer dispatch.
- Manage all incoming emails to the customer service inbox.
- Provide support to the logistics coordinator when required.
- Communicate daily with clients and the supply chain to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Monitor the materials schedule and verify that manufacturing/external suppliers deliver materials promptly.
- Aid with reporting, order amendments, project setups, billing plans, invoice errors, customer inquiries, and meeting financial targets at month and year-end.
- Provide administrative support to the Materials Team when needed.
Your success will be grounded by…
- Academic qualifications at GCSE level.
- Proficient in IT with a solid understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, in particular).
- Previous experience in a customer-facing operational team.
- Outstanding organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Capability to prioritise tasks, adhere to strict deadlines, and manage time efficiently.
- Prior experience within a complex materials management environment would be beneficial but is not mandatory.
- Proficiency in the use of SAP (Preferred).
